Unit 330 Auxiliary Presents Christmas Party for Veterans at Majestic Healthcare

On Wednesday afternoon, December 18th, Unit 330 of the American Legion Auxiliary presented a Christmas party for the veterans at Majestic Healthcare in New Haven.

Approximately 20 veterans were in attendance with family and friends as guests. A number of veterans were unable to be present at the gathering due to health issues.

Santa and Adjutant Larry Beardsley with Post 330 member Albino Perez, USMC.

Snacks of pinwheel sandwiches, mini-hotdogs, cheese, crackers and fruit were served with decorated cookies for dessert. As the veterans ate, a special guest magician made his way among the tables with tricks for entertainment.

After lunch, Santa distributed Christmas gifts to the veterans, an insulated mug with an American Flag logo.

Thanks go out to Becky Beardsley, President of Unit 330 Auxiliary, Marilyn Herman and Sandy Dager of Unit 330 and Larry Beardsley, Darell Fish and Ron Dager for their help in serving and assisting with the event.

Majestic Veterans Christmas Party and Auxiliary Meeting

To all Post #330 Legion, SAL and Auxiliary members,

I hope this finds you all well and warm,  Winter has certainly started with a bang!  I just want to remind you of the upcoming Christmas party for the veterans at Majestic Healthcare Center.  It is this coming Wednesday, December 18 at 1:00.  We will be providing snacks and gifts for the veterans and Santa will be joining us.  We will need help with serving.  So, if you are able, please join us.

There will be an Auxiliary meeting on January 15, 2025 at the New Haven Community Center at 6:30.  We will be discussing the future of our unit.  I hope to see many Auxiliary members there.

Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Becky Beardsley

Upcoming Events and Meeting

I hope this finds you well and enjoying the fall weather!

As you are aware, Veterans’ Day is next Monday. There will be a gathering at Majestic Healthcare Center at 1:00 to celebrate the 27 veterans there.  The Auxiliary is furnishing lunch.  We will need help serving lunches and just to be there to honor these men and women.  If you are able to come, please be there by 1:15.  Thank you very much for your help.

And before we know, Christmas will be here.  The Christmas party at Majestic will be December 20 at 1:00.  We will just be serving snacks.  I would like to have some kind of entertainment.  It may be too late for that.  But if anybody has any ideas, please let me know.  Maybe a budding magician!!!   Or some kind of singing group.

And, last but not least, there is a Legion meeting, November 12 at 7:00 p.m. at the New Haven Community Center.  Please plan to attend!

Becky Beardsley,

Auxiliary President

Auxiliary Meeting Minutes; April 17, 2024

The meeting was called to order by Becky.   Four auxiliary members were present, as well as two Fourth District officers:  Diann Scott, President and Nancy McGinnis, Secretary.  Becky asked permission to bypass a regular meeting and just discuss our unit concerns.  That was fine with them.

New Business:

Becky asked if we wanted to donate money to the VA hospital.  We voted to donate a total of $1,000 – $500.00 for the baby shower and $500.00 worth of gas cards.  Becky will deliver that.

Helen will sell poppies at Schelker Park on Memorial Day.

There was then a great deal of discussion regarding our tax-exempt status.  Diann told us there was a program at the state level where we should be able to get some help.  She will email Becky the information.

There was also discussion about at what point we should consider dissolving our unit.  Diann and Nancy suggested some things we might try if we are interested in getting more members involved, such as doing a bake sale or a kids Christmas party at the Community Center.  They did tell us that if we did give up our charter, we would want to donate all of our money.  Any money left in our accounts would go to the Department.

Our current officers and membership chairman are willing to continue on with their positions until the beginning of 2025.  We will see where the Legion is by then and a decision will be made about our future at that point.

Our next meeting will be May 18 at Ziano’s at Chapel Ridge at 6:30.

Andrea closed with prayer.

Respectfully Submitted, Becky Beardsley
